Inks that Bled.

In our initial year studying Textile Design, our drawing teacher had introduced us to various pen,chalk, paint and ink material to help us understand and explore each medium and effects that each created. It made us appreciate each material and enabled us to understand each one's potential in a drawing.
Above are paintings created by black ink and hues and shades are created by adding water in to the brush each time after picking up some ink. Since ink dries out extremely quickly one must use this medium wisely, in quick strokes making sure that there is an effortless flow to the painitng visible on the final piece.

When the COVID 19 suddenly impacted the whole world. With the shortage of face masks people were trying to figure out how to provide/produce proper PPE  for essential workers and our front liners. With the shortage of  face masks along with many community members of  Richmond Virginia I decided to become  member of  RVA masks for health. We covered requests with specific guidelines from hospitals, front liners, retirement homes pretty much all essential workers needs.  I noticed that each facility had style & color requirements. However they would utilize whatever was offered when it came to color or print. As the masks became the norm it was evident, at least for me, that since it had become mandatory to wear it indoors specifically, it became an accessory that impacted our choices in buying  the perfect fabric (if stitching it yourself) Tried picking out the print, color and style that resonated with us the most.  These are some of the prints I used for stitching for my kids and

Sussi the traditional weaving pattern

Back when I was a student my weaving teacher had asked us to re invent a traditional woven pattern called "Sussi" famous in interior Sindh where the threads are predominately colorful or single colored with patterns made out of white and black threads only. However as time and culture evolved so did the design and color patterns. These are my takes on it. The first colorful pattern with various material insertions is a table cloth finished with an orange handwoven lace and the second is a recently woven shawl for a customer on a similar design pattern but with a grey background. My love for creating hand product shas grown immencely.

The Floral All over Print Design

Coming from a back ground of home textiles, having worked in an export factory for over two years has gotten me hooked in to creating random floral designs on Photoshop and manually just out of habit or sheer fondness of it. I must admit creativity is sometimes like an addictive flow of ideas which must be converted in to a visual format for either others to see or just for you to satisfy your self.
