freelance work 'variations in signature designs'

Image
Designers in general have a certain affinity towards a particular form of  motif , patterns that might inspire them the most to create something from it to create their own individual work. I call it 'the designers signature' something that expresses us or our style the most and can be recognized instantly by our peers as 'ours' only. Yes I do prefer intricate designs  but that's a bit vague, so let me try my level best to pin a few 'inclinations which charge the creative pattern juices running' so to speak, when I dribble, scribble its always the swirls ,line with texts or floral course stripes  too, now you must be thinking 'hey, isn't there all that there is?' to answer that  'No, not really.  For instance, despite the fact that I have designed several prints for children or whimsical designs over the years on the request of several clients and their given theme, I've realized that its certainly not my cup of tea. Doodler by choice

Every now and then my inner "doodler" as I call myself wakes up with a sudden urge to scribble away on to the canvas so to speak. Some people ask me if I draw first with a light pencil before I go ahead working with markers, ink etc and the answer in NO not at all. Infact, doodle art is my way of relaxing not thinking and just jotting, mapping, matching and joining lines creating contours and shapes along the way. The end results surprise me too sometimes. I always decide later on how intricate I would like a certain print design be on canvas. Here is my recent work on canvas. Enjoy!!

How my mind works...The Pattern/Print/Design Process #1

From time to time people when find out about me being a Textile Print Designer often ask me how I go about my process. I think every designer or an artist has their own particular process, or a starting point which may culminate in to something completely different from what they started off with or perhaps exactly the same thing they had  intended to end up with. For me, its always start with a random line or doodle and see where it takes you. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy the ultimate results that I end up most often then not., probably the only time I enjoy surprises! Like I mentioned earlier I usually start with a small motif that I would have sketched out in my sketch book and then scan it over and open the file on Photoshop and take it from there. (Yes there are easier and less complicated way to sketch altogether from scratch on the computer but like I mentioned each of us have a preferred process) Here are a motif to final designs "brain storming" so as

Sweet Home T Shirt Designs

Image
One of my recent projects was a collection of T shirt designs for a client. I was asked to make a few designs for  orphan children living in the orphanage named Sweet Home. The Client was so touched by the children's hospitality and their positive attitude to their lives that he was instantly taken by them and asked me to design a few Tshirts for them to show his gratitude and I was glad to be part of this project to be able to spread some smiles on their faces.   Here is what I came up with.
