In "RETRO"spective

Image
My recent Design inspiration which led to the creation of these above designs was obviously Retro. The 70's was the era of experiment, change, cultural growth ,acceptance ,color, pattern and so much more. Sometimes I think that the very word "Vintage" was coined just for that time period ,But that's just my thought.  These designs are just representation of my perspective and a small home-age to that era in my own way.  (My Designs posted are free for everyone to use but please acknowledge the artist work it would be much appreciated.)

leather and cotton combined in a clutch

Image
I mustve mentioned it over and over in my previous posts on how I like to merge materials together to create a different product with a unique look. I like to explore and work with possibilities. This time was no different, I carefully picked a few leather and upholstery Jacquard pieces and stitched them with some cotton fabrics and the result was a phenomenal take on one of the trendiest form of bags going on these days, the strapless clutches, each clutch was then carefully embellished to enhance there uniqueness by carefully adding wire worked stones and beads to finish the look. Each clutch is individually lined with a cotton fabric inside and is available for purchase at our official facebook page  The Green Parrot  https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Green-Parrot/131426580262464?ref=hl

Tutorial ALL OVER Print

Image
All over prints are generally the most tricky ones since one has to look in to connections and repeat patterns along the way, moreover there shouldn't be an obvious repeat pattern showing and most importantly there just has to be an eye movement created via color and strong design. In the following  tutorial you will see how I took a motif and converted it in to an all over print.

From a motif to a design tutorial

Image
I wanted to work with a complicated filigree type of motif to create a whole damask look for an all over design specifically designed for bed linen or apparel. So I picked out a random design and here is a step by step with instructions as to what I finally developed a design in to.

Pen and Arylics on canvas

Image
Since doodling seems so natural to me, in my hours of calmness,I pick up a pen and draw whatever comes to my mind. I call it my jumbled thoughts on canvas. I like to keep colors bold and minimilistic to avoid confusing the image. The whole idea using a bold pen to create the design on canvas in so show how majestic a simple black ink can do with basic colors.
