Surface Design on a screen printed fabric
Surface Design has always existed but perhaps limited to embellishments or treatments to clothes. However with the progress in various textiles allover the world fabric,s surface is being enhanced day in and day out with some form of treatment whether in form of a particular finish or to uplift a certain design for upholstery, bed linen , apparel or decorative textile hangings.
Above are some of my initial exploration where I screen printed a design of mine and then enhanced it by adding colorful lace cords here and there in the design to bring out depth and create interest in the design itself. On the second one I followed a similar path of screen printing but used "Mukaish" (silver wire work) to create an effect. In another sample of mine I decided to create the entire design out of cords and stitches to see an independent effect of surface treatment on canvas.
