The Geometric Simplicity

Image
Stripes similar to Checks are prints which are recurrent in the market never to go out of fashion , just converted in to small, bold, horizontal, vertical, simple, haphazard, textured, overlapped, converged , mixing the horizontals and the vertical lines together to create other possibilities etc  varying according to the upcoming trends of a certain trend or cycle or year. Fascinating to know is that one never seems to get too tired of them instead there just has to be a plaid, color or black and white somewhere or the other, whether in a collection for apparel wear or utilized as a reverse for bed linen if not the mail design itself. Here are my thoughts on stripes and geometric designs.

Designs when merged

Image
I have often enjoyed merging one design in to another simply because I enjoy the outcome, the surprise one gets of creating something out of something completely different. The design or print could be anything , floral, geometric and then merge them to see how the colors interact with the design and whether the new design created by merging the previous ones is workable or a complete disaster. The most anticipating part for me what to map the design on, on a mannequin for apparel or to be utilized as an upholstery design for bed linen etc.  Here are some of the designs that I had created and then decided to merge the two to create a new one and  then I finally decided to map for apparel purposes. I hope you enjoy my work.

Floral prints, the beginning of each floral print starts with a single motif with various repeat options, color combinations, textures, color medium and so much more. During my third year as a Textile Designer we were asked to research on floral designs and work out print options utilizing and merging to three mediums such as colored chalk, indian ink, pastels and water color mediums to depict the effect these mediums create within a single motif and it's background and then finally convert them in to repeat sizes as required for the project. Attached are the motifs and  print design patterns that I came up with.
