MX dyed Gorgeous silk scarves

Image
Colors, splashes and bright fresh tones are a weakness for me and what better way then to translate those colors on to the fabric medium which gives the best vibrant colors than Silk? MX dyes are known to produce such color fast results on any type of Silk. One can come up with great combinations and use various techniques such tie and dye, simple folding, knotting and so much more the options are endless! These are some of the scarves that I made. I hope you enjoy and your feedback is most appreciated.

Sussi the traditional weaving pattern

Image
Back when I was a student my weaving teacher had asked us to re invent a traditional woven pattern called "Sussi" famous in interior Sindh where the threads are predominately colorful or single colored with patterns made out of white and black threads only. However as time and culture evolved so did the design and color patterns. These are my takes on it. The first colorful pattern with various material insertions is a table cloth finished with an orange handwoven lace and the second is a recently woven shawl for a customer on a similar design pattern but with a grey background. My love for creating hand product shas grown immencely.

The Floral All over Print Design

Image
Coming from a back ground of home textiles, having worked in an export factory for over two years has gotten me hooked in to creating random floral designs on Photoshop and manually just out of habit or sheer fondness of it. I must admit creativity is sometimes like an addictive flow of ideas which must be converted in to a visual format for either others to see or just for you to satisfy your self. Here are some of my design prints which I have worked in a set repeat pattern and size.

Textures seem to be very current or lets say repetitive in my work be it in print, weave or creating my new found love jewelry. That something that would probably tell my work apart from others, a knack for crazy impulsive yet eye catching textures, sometimes developed accidentally and sometimes intentionally. This is some of my work that spoke most of how I feel about texture and how I represented it through my interpretation of Textures via fibers in weaving. Enjoy! criticisms are welcome.

Damaska that just dont wear out

One of the great thins about being a Textile Designer for me is the fact that there is so much versatility and possibilities that one cannot cease to think in this filed of work. All it takes is self motivation and that passion that drives you in to becoming one of the best. I have always enjoyed creating prints, it could be out of anything, an inspiration from a verse , natural surroundings, spoon or just playing with an existing motif to create a completely unique design that could stand on it own! I have for years created various designs based on a very common motif called "Damask". Here are a few of my interpretation as a designer perfect for the current market. These designs are in repeat format and can be used for various Textile as well as non textile merchandize.

Clusters of Emotions

Image
This is a series of woven wall hangings that I wove using various materials and colors to express my frustration and agony related to the visa status that I had to go through during my stay here at USA. Some of my work remains at display at OIS office at NC state. Life had been a rugged unbalanced graph where one day I woke up frustrated, chained and tied down and the other days life could not have been more beautiful. This feeling of constant confusion, isolation and incompleteness and how the struggle wore me down and how I manage to channel all of this in to a positive note is what I communicate in my woven work using colors and textures. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I did creating them.
